Sandown

Sandown seafront is just yards from the town's shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, with easy level walking along the broad promenades and sea wall. Safe bathing and a mild climate with consistently high placing in the U.K's sunshine records provide the essential ingredients for a summer holiday. You will find deckchairs, beach huts, water sports and the pier, which dates from 1879 and now provides all-weather amusements and the opportunity to walk out over the sea, which is just as exciting for today's visitors as it was to the Victorians.

Shanklin

Shanklin is a Victorian inspired town and one of the best known resorts of the Island. High street shops and supermarket occupy the centre and at the south end of the High Street is the Old Village, made up of a picturesque grouping of thatched cottages, with various shops, pubs and tea gardens. Shanklin Road Train (Dotto train) operates from Spring to Autumn and drives through the main streets and to the long sandy beach. The town and beach are separated by a cliff and whilst the road and pavements are quite steep on the approach to the beach, for those not feeling energetic or able, a lift is available along the cliff path that drops you in the centre of The Esplanade with its children’s activity centre, amusements, ice cream and snack kiosks, crazy golf and of course, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

An 18 hole golf course and Leisure Centre can be found at nearby Sandown.

From the accomadation:

3 minute walk to Lake station with onward connections to the steam railway at Smallbrook and Ryde pier for passenger ferries to Portsmouth Harbour and connecting trains.

5 minutes walk to the Cliff top walks (fenced), Parks, gardens and the beautiful beach at Sandown Bay

15 minute walk to The Heights Leisure Centre in Sandown, one of the Island's largest multi-purpose leisure and activity centres.

The centre is open all year and offers facilities for everyone, ranging from toddlers to 50+ groups, with activities from swimming to squash, fitness classes to a sauna, and Tone Zone gym and training.
